Director of Reimbursement

Directs the company’s reimbursement process for the health campuses.  Oversees and understands all Federal, State, and Insurance reimbursements that affects the revenue cycle for healthcare center and assisted living reimbursement, partnering directly with Senior Leadership, Home Office Accounting group, divisional and campus personnel to maximize the annual reimbursement, through understanding the specific reimbursement programs and changes that will occur during the year, and into the future.  Provides the leadership for the reimbursement team to accomplish creation and maintenance of the annual Medicare and Medicaid cost reports as well as reports necessary for other types of payors.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs and leads the understanding and reporting on the monthly/quarterly/annual federal, state, and insurance reimbursements, and changes during the year.
  • Maintains, improves and executes various reimbursement models to reflect the changes within the business unit’s year over year.
  • Plans/creates the reimbursement strategies throughout each year. Communicates the information to Senior Leadership and the operations teams that will maximize their success by pointing out weaknesses discovered.
  • Works with Budgeting to help more accurately predict the targeted NOI for the annual budget and the five (5) year plan, based on changes occurring in Federal, State, and Insurance reimbursement.
  • Directs, manages and oversees the reimbursementing team at the Home Office.
  • Develops analytical and software tools to optimize the efficiency of completing Medicare and Medicaid cost reports. Goal to do all cost reports in house.
  • Partner’s and works directly with the DVPs, EDs, and DHSs to maximize facility reimbursements for the care that is being given by the clinical teams.
  • Recruits, screens, selects, hires, trains, coaches, counsels and develops a team of qualified and highly motivated individuals.
  • Conserves resources by adhering to financial stewardship using prudent judgment related to expense(s) incurred by the Company.
  • Periodic travel including overnight stay as necessary.


  • Four (4) year degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent from an accredited college or university.


  • Seven (7) to Ten (10) years financial/accounting experience with a focus on Medicaid/Medicare Reimbursement experience isrequired.  Healthcare, senior living industry or long-term care environment required.
  • Navision, Jet Reports, Matrixcare software products or equivalent preferred.
  • Exemplary computer skills that include knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
